Wow. I've outdone myself here. These are truly gorgeous. Now for all the hand work… cutting/wrapping/collating/mailing. But it's worth it—invitations set the tone for any event.

Many thanks to my pals at the Nature Conservacny, New York Chapter. I just adore TNC and what they do: www.tnc.org. And they sent me a cheesecake (!!!) from Junior's for making their invite for The Young Professionals Group's annual benefit in March. Here it is. I hope those of you in New York will join and go, this a truly worthwhile cause full of wonderful people.
OMG, this cheesecake is so good. I had it for dinner last night and breakfast this morning…
Every year, Community Media Workshop host the Studs Terkel Community Media Awards Benefit. I make the invitations, which were especially special this year since they not only honor Mr. Terkel's life, but also celebrate CMW's 20th anniversary. We went for four-color instead of two and completely changed the format, making it longer and in separate components.
CMW's site explains the purpose of the event better than I can:
Much more than a
party, our 20th Anniversary Awards will celebrate the talent in our
ever-changing media landscape as well as Studs' phenomenal life. We
will honor journalists who go the extra mile to report news "from the
people who made Chicago, news that's bottom up rather than up, down,"
as Studs said at our 2007 awards event. "That's what this is all about."
LimeRed recently designed invitations for The Chicago Loop Alliance's annual meeting. They have some great events in store for next year. Check them out.

And this is from their web site: Chicago Loop Alliance (CLA) represents Chicago's most dynamic mixed-use
district and serves the rapidly growing central business area. CLA
advocates for Chicago's most appealing historic and contemporary
architecture, mainstay retail stores, restaurants, residences,
hospitality and entertainment as well as a number of high profile and
respected educational and cultural institutions. CLA is focused on
bringing together these various Loop businesses and organizations to
support one another in creating and promoting a vibrant, flourishing
Loop where people live, work & play.
LimeRed studio will also create custom, handmade invitations for special events, like weddings. These invitations were particularly fun to design and construct because I'm close friends with the bride and her colors were hot pink and black. She and I worked together closely to arrive at this design, and result was magnificent. We used mostly black plants with bright pink hummingbird accents. Two colors of organza ribbon held the components together. And the newly-married couple walked down the aisle after the ceremony to Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. Fun all around!
