I delete a lot of stuff in my inbox every day, even the daily headlines from The New York Times, which I skim and pretend to read. I have seven absolutely overloaded inboxes in my Mail app (yes, seven) and then my gmail which I check less frequently and is just as much trouble. So what do I do? I sign up for newsletters all the time. I’ve subscribed to a few blogs to get their content delivered to my inbox because I’m just too lazy/busy to go check them every day. Sometimes it’s for research if I like the design or content, but some are just for fun. You can sign up for my posts to be delivered to your inbox, by the way.
This is totally unsolicited. I didn’t design these blogs, nor do I know the authors. I just adore these two food writers and I read their emailed blog posts every time I get one. They are terrific writers and take lovely photos of their process as well as the end result. I mean, who can read about design all the time? I can’t. Boring.
The first blog is Macheesmo — Learning to be Confident in the Kitchen. I consider myself confident enough in the kitchen, but I love his recipes and approach. The tipping point came today with his fantastic writing about the Cost of Cooking. If you do nothing else today, read this post. Also, he had a chile rellenos recipe last week that blew me away.
The second is Pete Bakes. I haven’t heard from him in a while, but I do look forward to his posts. I love to bake. I love carbohydrates, I love bread, I love bacon, i love pretty much anything that will make me fat. And I love to read about baking and cooking. Plus, Pete and his girlfriend are just so cute. Bacon-wrapped strawberries? Yes, please. That post inspired a salad I’m planning for this weekend. I know, it’s not a bread/carb baking post, but this one is and it’s terrific.
What do you read every day?
